This site is to show you how to raise a better quality sheep, our breeding flock, tips on feed rations, tips and pictures of how a quality show sheep should look, and much more.
A Little Bit About Me
My name is Heather, I am 16 years old. I have been raising sheep for four years now, it's been a lot of fun and I would like to share it with you! I live in Boise, ID and have a small flock of about 3 Suffolk ewes, 1 Suffolk ram, 2 Cheviot ewes, and 1 cheviot ram. I am a participant in 4-H and I am also the only, year 2000, 4-H ambassador for Ada county. I am in a 4-H group called the Barnyard Commandos. (Once we come up with our logo I'll have a picture up here for you to see.) I am the Vice President of my club and I enjoy doing all the things that need to be done. I named my site "Mystical Sheep" after my breeding ewe, Mystie
This is a picture of my lambs last season. Aren't they cute?! They all did
well in our state fair and the breeding ewe in the back won 2nd place in her class.
Our Methods To Keep Our Sheep Happy
We treat all our sheep with great respect and fairness. We don't tug them around on halters or abuse them in any way. Instead we train them to be our buddy and follow us around until they trust us more. Then, we take them for walks on halters and give them rewards by giving them grain every time they do something right. (If you want to read more about this, go to my Barnyard Commandos page and it will show you how our club handles things.)
This is a picture of one of my club members, Jennifer. She's showing us just how much
she cares for her sheep. She took really good care of this sheep this year and she did awesome showing it even though she was just a novice. She hopes to do better next year. This is one of our methods to keeping our sheep happy, giving them lots of love and attention. (To find out more about members and their achievements go to my Barnyard Commandos page.)
